Reliable for classroom projects
Bought five of these for a university robotics class. All units performed consistently. The digital output makes interfacing with microcontrollers very simple.

Good quality, clear instructions needed
The sensor itself is high quality and sturdy. However, the pinout diagram on the back was a bit faint. Once I figured out the wiring, it worked flawlessly.

Fast shipping and great product
Arrived well-packaged. The photodiode is sensitive enough to detect even subtle changes in room lighting. Highly recommend for home automation prototypes.
Q: Can this detect infrared light from a TV remote?
A: This module is primarily designed for visible light detection using a standard photodiode. While it might react slightly to strong IR sources, it is not optimized for infrared remote control signals.
Q: Are the mounting holes standard size for M3 screws?
A: The mounting holes have a diameter of 3.0mm, which is suitable for M3 screws or 3mm standoffs commonly used in electronics prototyping.
Q: What is the maximum voltage this sensor can handle?
A: The operating voltage range is 3.3V to 5V DC. Please do not exceed 5V as it may damage the onboard comparator chip.
Q: Is a library required to use this with Arduino?
A: No special library is needed. You can read the digital output using the standard digitalRead() function in the Arduino IDE after connecting the DO pin to a digital input pin.
Q: Does this module output analog or digital signals?
A: This module provides a digital switch output (TTL level). It goes HIGH or LOW depending on whether the light intensity exceeds the threshold set by the potentiometer.
