Perfect for embedded vision projects
This board is exactly what I needed for my computer vision prototype. The dual Ethernet ports allow for seamless separation of control and data traffic. Booting Linux from the eMMC was straightforward using the provided images.

Exceeded expectations for AI inference

Robust for industrial prototyping

Great value, minor documentation gaps
Hardware quality is excellent and the pinout is well labeled. However, the schematic could be more detailed regarding the PMOD voltage levels. Once figured out, the board performs flawlessly with Vivado.

Solid board, fast shipping
The board arrived well-packaged with anti-static protection. Vivado recognizes the hardware immediately. I deducted one star only because the included USB cable felt a bit flimsy, but the board itself is top-notch.

Ideal for learning Zynq architecture
As a university student, this board offers the best price-to-performance ratio for learning heterogeneous computing. The community support is huge, making it easy to find example projects for the AXI interconnect.
Q: Can I power this board directly from a standard USB port?
A: While the Micro-USB port can accept 5V input, we strongly recommend using the dedicated DC barrel jack with a 5V/2A adapter for stable operation, especially when using high-power peripherals like cameras or FMC modules.
Q: What is the difference between the 7010 and 7020 versions?
A: The primary difference lies in the FPGA logic resources. The XC7Z020 has approximately double the logic cells, DSP slices, and block RAM compared to the XC7Z010. Both share the same dual-core ARM processor and peripheral layout.
Q: Is the JTAG interface built-in or do I need an external debugger?
A: The board features an onboard USB-JTAG programmer. You can connect it directly to your PC via the micro-USB port labeled 'JTAG/UART' to program the FPGA and debug the ARM core without additional hardware.
Q: Are the PMOD connectors compatible with 3.3V and 5V modules?
A: The PMOD headers are natively routed to 3.3V FPGA banks. If you need to interface with 5V modules, you must use level shifters or ensure your specific PMOD module supports 3.3V logic levels to avoid damaging the board.
Q: Does this board come with a pre-installed operating system?
A: The board typically ships with a basic bootloader. However, we provide downloadable SD card images containing Ubuntu Linux and Petalinux tailored for both the XC7Z010 and XC7Z020 variants on our support wiki.
