Perfect for learning 8051 architecture
This board is exactly what I needed to teach my students about the 8051 microcontroller family. The tight lock socket makes swapping chips incredibly easy without worrying about bent pins. Highly recommended for educational purposes.

Good starter board
If you are new to embedded systems, this is a safe and reliable starting point. The minimum system configuration saves you from having to build the oscillator and reset circuits yourself. Works as advertised.

Durable for classroom use
We have purchased ten of these for our lab. They have survived months of handling by different students. The ZIF socket mechanism is still tight and secure on all units. Excellent durability.

Great value for money
I bought this for my final year project involving basic industrial control logic. It handled all my testing scenarios perfectly. The reset button is responsive and the power LED is bright enough to see clearly.

Nostalgic and functional

Solid build quality
The PCB feels sturdy and the components are well-soldered. It works immediately out of the box with standard STC89C52 chips. Only minor issue is the silk screen could be slightly larger, but that's a nitpick.
Q: Can I use this with a 3.3V logic level programmer?
A: This board operates at 5V. While some 3.3V programmers might work depending on tolerance, we recommend using a 5V compatible programmer to ensure stable communication and avoid potential damage.
Q: Does this board come with the microcontroller chip pre-installed?
A: No, this is a minimum system board designed to hold the chip. You need to purchase the STC89C52 or AT89S52 chip separately and insert it into the socket.
Q: Is the crystal oscillator frequency changeable?
A: Yes, the board includes a socket for the crystal oscillator. While it comes with an 11.0592 MHz crystal by default, you can replace it with another frequency compatible with the 8051 architecture if your project requires it.
Q: What type of cable is needed to connect this to a computer for programming?
A: Since this is a bare minimum system board, it does not have an onboard USB-to-TTL converter. You will need an external USB-to-TTL serial adapter (like CH340 or CP2102) to connect TX/RX pins to your computer.
