Solid upgrade from ESP8266
Much faster and more stable than my old ESP8266 projects. The extra RAM makes a huge difference when handling JSON payloads. Only giving 4 stars because it runs a bit warm under heavy load.

Great hardware, minor pin labeling issue
The performance is excellent and Bluetooth LE works flawlessly. I wish the pinout diagram on the back was slightly larger, but otherwise a solid board.

Easy to set up with Arduino
Installed the board manager in minutes and uploaded my first sketch immediately. The USB-C connection is very convenient compared to older micro-USB boards.

Ideal for home automation sensors
Low power consumption in deep sleep mode is impressive. I'm using these for battery-powered door sensors and they last weeks. The form factor fits easily into small enclosures.

Perfect for compact IoT projects

Bought 10 for our student workshop
All boards worked out of the box. The built-in antenna performs well enough for our indoor robotics applications. Highly recommended for education.
Q: Does this board support external antennas?
A: No, this specific mini module features an integrated PCB antenna only and does not have a connector for an external antenna.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.7V LiPo battery?
A: Yes, you can connect a 3.7V LiPo battery to the 5V and GND pins, as the board includes a voltage regulator. However, for direct 3.3V injection, please refer to the schematic to avoid damage.
Q: Is the CH343 driver required for Windows?
A: Yes, most Windows systems will require the CH343 or CP210x USB-to-UART driver to recognize the board for serial communication and flashing.
Q: Does it come with headers pre-soldered?
A: No, this module is sold without headers to keep the profile low. You will need to solder your own pin headers if you plan to use it on a breadboard.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for the GPIO pins?
A: Each GPIO pin can source or sink up to 40mA. The total current drawn from all IO ports should not exceed specific limits outlined in the ESP32-S3 datasheet to prevent instability.
