Reliable analog and digital output
I appreciate that this module provides both DO and AO pins. The analog output allows for granular brightness readings, not just on/off states. The LM393 comparator is stable and doesn't fluctuate wildly near the threshold.

Compact and efficient

Perfect for my Arduino night light project
This sensor module works exactly as described. The potentiometer makes it very easy to calibrate the threshold for when the digital output triggers. I used it to turn on an LED strip when the room gets dark, and it responds instantly.

Great value, clear documentation needed
The hardware quality is solid for the price. It detected light changes accurately during my university lab test. I deducted one star because the pinout wasn't printed clearly on the back, so I had to look up a datasheet online to be sure.

Easy to use for beginners

Good sensitivity range
Using this to monitor sunlight levels for my automated greenhouse shutter system. It handles the transition from dawn to day well. Just make sure to shield it from direct rain if using outdoors, as it is not waterproof.
Q: What is the response time of the sensor when light changes suddenly?
A: The GL5528 photoresistor typically has a rise and fall time in the range of tens of milliseconds, which is fast enough for most lighting control and environmental monitoring applications.
Q: Does this module output an analog voltage value or just a high/low signal?
A: It provides both! The 'AO' pin gives an analog voltage proportional to light intensity, while the 'DO' pin gives a digital high/low signal based on your potentiometer threshold setting.
Q: Can I connect this directly to a 3.3V microcontroller like an ESP8266?
A: Yes, the module operates on a wide voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic systems like the ESP8266 or ESP32.
Q: Is the photoresistor replaceable if it gets damaged?
A: The photoresistor is soldered onto the PCB. While technically replaceable with soldering skills, it is designed as a sealed module. If damaged, we recommend replacing the entire module for consistent performance.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity of the light detection?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Use a small screwdriver to rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise while exposing the sensor to your target light level until the indicator LED toggles as desired.
