Perfect for learning addressable LEDs
These modules are fantastic for beginners. The built-in driver makes wiring incredibly simple, and the colors are vibrant. I used them with an Arduino Uno and the FastLED library worked immediately.

Smooth color transitions
The dreamy light effect mentioned in the description is real. Using these for a custom keyboard backlight and the transitions are buttery smooth thanks to the integrated driver chip.

Excellent value for money
Bought these for a university electronics course. They are much cheaper than buying full strips when you only need a few indicator lights. The documentation online is plentiful.

Good brightness, runs a bit warm
At maximum brightness (white), the module does get slightly warm, which is normal for 5050 LEDs. Just ensure you have some airflow if enclosing it. Color accuracy is spot on.

Great quality, slight soldering needed
The PCB quality is excellent and the round shape looks unique in my project. You need to solder the headers yourself, but that's expected for this price point. Very bright output.

Reliable for industrial prototypes
We bought a batch for prototyping control panel indicators. They have been running continuously for weeks without any flickering or failure. Highly recommended for stable projects.
Q: Is a resistor required on the data line?
A: While often optional for short connections, we recommend adding a 330-ohm resistor between the microcontroller data pin and the module DIN pin to prevent signal reflection and protect the first LED.
Q: Can I chain multiple modules together?
A: Yes, you can chain multiple WS2812 modules by connecting the DOUT pin of one module to the DIN pin of the next. Ensure you have a sufficient 5V power supply for the total number of LEDs.
Q: What is the difference between the square and round versions?
A: Functionally, there is no difference. Both use the same WS2812B LED and driver. The choice is purely aesthetic based on your project enclosure or design preference.
Q: Are the mounting holes standardized?
A: Yes, the mounting holes are standard 3mm diameter, spaced to fit common M2.5 or M3 screws depending on the specific board layout revision. Please check the dimension diagram in the datasheet.
Q: Does this work with 3.3V logic microcontrollers?
A: Yes, the WS2812B is generally compatible with 3.3V logic signals from boards like ESP32 or Raspberry Pi, though a logic level shifter is recommended for long-term reliability in noisy environments.
