Best entry-level video board
If you want to get into video processing without spending a fortune on high-end boards, this is the one. The VGA and HDMI outputs are stable, and the resource utilization for 720p processing is very efficient.

Good documentation support
The wiki has been updated recently with new tutorials. I had a small issue configuring the clock constraints, but the community forum and the provided schematics resolved it quickly. A very supportive ecosystem.

Robust build quality
The PCB layout is clean, and the silkscreen labeling makes it easy to identify pins. The USB-Blaster clone included works seamlessly with Quartus Prime. Highly recommended for hobbyists moving from Arduino to FPGA.

Ideal for computer vision prototypes

Perfect for learning FPGA basics
This board is excellent for students. The documentation provided by Wildfire is clear, and the example projects for image processing helped me understand the pipeline quickly. The HDMI loopback demo worked right out of the box.

Great value but needs careful handling
For the price, you get a lot of peripherals. The SDRAM and flash are sufficient for most beginner to intermediate projects. Just be careful with the GPIO pins as they are not all 5V tolerant. Overall, a solid choice for Cyclone IV development.

A: With the resources available on the Cyclone IV EP4CE10, we reliably support up to 720p at 60Hz. 1080p is theoretically possible but may exceed logic element limits depending on your specific image processing algorithm complexity.
Q: Is the Quartus software version compatible with this specific chip?
A: The EP4CE10F17C8N is supported by Intel Quartus Prime versions from 13.0sp1 up to the latest Lite edition. We recommend using version 18.1 or newer for the best balance of features and stability.
