Beginner friendly with Arduino IDE
I was worried about compatibility, but it works flawlessly with the Arduino IDE after adding the ESP32 board manager. The example codes for the LCD and voice interaction got me started immediately.

Solid performance, runs a bit warm
Performance is great when driving the display and handling Wi-Fi simultaneously. Do note that the chip gets moderately warm during heavy usage, so ensure good ventilation if you enclose it. Otherwise, a solid dev board.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The hardware quality is top-notch. The display is bright and the touch response is accurate. However, finding specific pinout diagrams for the audio codec took some digging in the GitHub repo. Still highly recommended.

Best round display board available
I've tried several round LCD boards, and this one has the best color reproduction and viewing angles. The integration of the microphone makes it a complete solution for voice-controlled IoT devices.

Perfect for AI Voice Projects
This board is exactly what I needed for my XiaoZhi voice assistant project. The round screen looks fantastic, and the microphone quality is surprisingly good for such a compact board. Setup with ESP-IDF was smooth.

Excellent value for money
Considering it comes with 8MB PSRAM and a high-res round display, the price point is unbeatable. I'm using it as the brain for a small desktop robot, and the Wi-Fi connectivity is stable.
Q: Can I power this board directly with a 3.7V LiPo battery?
A: Yes, there is a dedicated JST-PH 2.0mm connector on the board designed for single-cell LiPo batteries (3.7V). The board includes charging circuitry, so you can charge the battery via the USB-C port.
Q: What is the pinout for the I2S microphone?
A: The default I2S configuration for the onboard microphone typically uses GPIO 42 for MCLK, GPIO 41 for SCLK, GPIO 2 for WS, and GPIO 3 for SD. Please refer to the schematic in our GitHub repository for the most current details.
Q: Is the touch screen resistive or capacitive?
A: The 1.85-inch round display features a capacitive touch panel driven by the GT911 controller, offering multi-touch support and a glass surface for better durability and clarity compared to resistive screens.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython out of the box?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 chip fully supports MicroPython. You will need to flash the latest MicroPython firmware binary suitable for ESP32-S3 devices, which is available on the official MicroPython website.
