Best in the XIAO lineup
I have used several XIAO boards, and the S3 version is the most versatile. The Bluetooth 5.0 connection is stable and the battery charging feature saves space on my PCB.

Excellent board, minor learning curve
The hardware is top-notch. If you are new to ESP32, the pinout might take some getting used to compared to standard Arduino boards, but the documentation helps.

Great value for the features
Having 8MB of PSRAM on such a tiny board is a game changer. I used it for an image processing prototype and it performed better than expected.

Solid performance for home automation
Using this to control various sensors in my smart home setup. It connects reliably to my network. Only wish it had a built-in LED matrix, but that's a minor point.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for the 3.3V output pin?
A: The 3.3V LDO regulator on the XIAO ESP32S3 can supply up to 300mA. Please ensure your total peripheral load does not exceed this limit to maintain stability.
Q: Does this board support external antenna connections?
A: No, the Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 uses an onboard ceramic antenna. There is no U.FL connector for an external antenna on this specific model.
Q: Can I power this board directly with a 5V source via the GPIO pins?
A: It is recommended to power the board via the USB-C port or the BAT pad for LiPo batteries. While there is a 5V pin, feeding voltage directly into other GPIO pins can damage the microcontroller.
Q: Is the pin header pre-soldered?
A: No, the board typically comes with a separate pin header strip in the package so you can choose to solder straight headers, right-angle headers, or none at all depending on your project needs.
Q: Is this compatible with the XIAO expansion shields?
A: Yes, the XIAO ESP32S3 follows the standard XIAO form factor and is fully compatible with existing XIAO expansion shields and accessories.
