Best Value Multi-Port Board
I replaced my old router with this running pfSense-like software. The throughput on the 2.5G ports is genuine, and it stays cool even without a fan in a well-ventilated case.

Perfect for Home Lab Networking
The triple 2.5G ports make this board incredible for setting up a high-speed router or firewall. OpenWrt installation was smooth, and the performance is stable under heavy load.

Excellent for Industrial Prototyping
We are using these for a gateway project. The build quality is industrial-grade, and the multiple ethernet ports save us from needing external switches. Minus one star because the power cable is a bit short.

Great Hardware, Documentation Could Be Better
Hardware quality is top-notch with the RK3568 chip handling everything I throw at it. However, finding specific pinout diagrams for some GPIO functions took some digging in the forums.

Community Support is Amazing
The hardware is fantastic, but the community around NanoPi is even better. Found pre-built images for almost every use case within hours of unboxing.
Q: What is the maximum speed achievable on the WAN port?
A: With proper cooling and optimized software like OpenWrt, you can achieve near-lineary speeds close to 2.4 Gbps on a single port, depending on the workload type.
Q: Is a heatsink or fan included in the package?
A: The standard package includes a metal case which acts as a passive heatsink. An active fan is not included but can be attached to the provided mounting points if required for extreme loads.
Q: Does this board support PoE (Power over Ethernet)?
A: No, the NanoPi R5S does not have built-in PoE support. It must be powered via the USB Type-C port. You can use a PoE splitter if needed.
Q: Is the source code for the Android image available?
A: Yes, FriendlyElec provides BSP sources and SDKs on their official wiki and GitHub repository for developers who wish to customize the Android or Linux builds.
Q: Can I run Docker containers on this device?
A: Yes, the RK3568 processor and Linux-based OS options fully support Docker. Many users successfully run multiple containers for home automation and networking services.
