Great board, documentation could be better
Hardware is top notch. Booting from NVMe SSD is super fast. Had some trouble finding specific GPIO pinout details initially, but the community forums helped.

Incredible performance for the size
The RK3588S chip is a beast. I'm running a local LLM and it handles it surprisingly well. The 32GB RAM is a game changer for embedded projects.

Best home server board yet
Replaced my old RPi setup with this. The dual gigabit ethernet makes it perfect for a router or NAS. Runs cool even under load.

Solid for industrial prototyping
We are testing this for a control panel interface. The 8K output is overkill for us but nice to have. Stability has been excellent over 2 weeks of continuous run.

Worth every penny for learning
As a student, the 32GB RAM lets me run multiple Docker containers without swapping. Great for learning Kubernetes on edge devices.
Q: Is there active cooling required for the RK3588S?
A: While the board can idle without a fan, we strongly recommend using a heatsink and active fan for sustained workloads like video transcoding or AI inference to prevent thermal throttling.
Q: Can I power this via the GPIO pins?
A: It is not recommended to power the board solely through the GPIO pins due to high current requirements. Please use the USB Type-C port or the DC barrel jack for reliable power delivery.
Q: Does the M.2 slot support SATA SSDs or only NVMe?
A: The M.2 Key-M slot on the NanoPi M6 is designed for NVMe PCIe SSDs. It does not support SATA protocol M.2 drives.
Q: What OS images are officially supported?
A: FriendlyARM provides official images for Ubuntu 22.04, Debian, and Android 12. Community builds for other Linux distributions are also available.
Q: Does this board come with an eMMC module included?
A: No, the board supports eMMC expansion via a socket, but the eMMC module is sold separately. It also boots directly from MicroSD or NVMe SSD.
