Reliable minimal system
I've used this for several prototype projects. The minimal system design ensures there are no unnecessary components interfering with your circuit. Programming via the serial port works flawlessly with Keil and SDCC compilers.

Perfect for learning embedded systems

Nostalgic and functional
Takes me back to my college days. The 51 core is old but gold for understanding interrupts and timers. The only downside is the lack of an onboard USB programmer, but using an external TTL adapter is simple enough.

Excellent starter kit
As someone new to hardware, this board was not too intimidating. The layout is logical, and finding example code online for the 51 series is very easy. Successfully blinked an LED on the first try!

Good value but requires soldering
Great kit for the price. Note that some versions come as a kit requiring you to solder the discrete parts yourself, which is actually a plus for learning. The crystal frequency is standard for serial communication projects.
