Great hardware, steep learning curve
The ESP32-S3 performance is top-notch, and the audio quality for the chat feature is surprisingly clear. However, setting up the Doubao model required some deep diving into documentation.

Good but needs better tutorials
The hardware feels premium and the screen looks great. I struggled a bit with the initial Wi-Fi configuration for the AI features, but support helped me resolve it eventually.

Best value dev board this year
I've used many ESP32 boards, but the inclusion of a high-res touch display and dedicated AI support makes this stand out. My cat actually reacts to the MeowMate sounds!

Solid choice for IoT learning
Using this for a university project on conversational agents. The Pinout is well-labeled, and the battery management seems efficient. Would give 5 stars if the case was included.
Q: Can I program this using Python?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 chip fully supports MicroPython and CircuitPython, making it easy to write scripts for the LCD and AI features.
Q: Is the 1.85-inch display capacitive or resistive?
A: The display is a capacitive touchscreen, offering multi-touch support and high sensitivity for smooth interactions.
Q: Does this board come with a pre-installed SD card?
A: No, the EchoEar MeowMate does not include an SD card by default, but it supports microSD cards up to 16GB for additional storage.
Q: Does the Xiaozhi AI require a subscription?
A: The board supports local deployment of open models, but cloud-based Xiaozhi or Doubao services may require their own API keys or subscriptions depending on usage limits.
Q: What voltage should I use for the external power input?
A: Please use a standard 5V DC power source via the USB Type-C port. Higher voltages may damage the board.
