Solid Performance for Prototyping
We used this for an initial proof-of-concept for a sorting system. The inference speed is impressive, and the form factor fits easily into our test enclosures. Very stable operation.

Excellent Learning Tool

Good Value, Minor Quirks
Overall a fantastic board for the price. The RISC-V architecture is future-proof. Occasionally the Wi-Fi module connection drops, but a reboot fixes it. Still, great for computer vision tasks.

Great Vision Capabilities
The camera module provides clear images and the AI recognition features work well out of the box. I deducted one star because the documentation could be more detailed for advanced C++ users.

Perfect for Edge AI Projects
This board is incredibly powerful for its size. The K230 chip handles object detection smoothly using the CanMV IDE. Setup was straightforward, and the Python support makes prototyping very fast.
Q: Does the package include a case or cooling solution?
A: The standard package includes only the development board. Cases and heatsinks are sold separately. However, the board runs relatively cool under normal loads, so active cooling is usually not required.
Q: What is the maximum resolution and frame rate for video processing?
A: The onboard OV5640 sensor supports up to 5MP still images. For video processing with AI inference, it typically handles 720p at 30fps or 1080p at lower frame rates depending on the complexity of the model.
Q: Can I power this board using a standard power bank?
A: Yes, the board can be powered via the USB Type-C port using any standard 5V/2A power bank. Ensure the power source is stable to prevent resets during heavy AI processing loads.
Q: Is there a GPIO header available for connecting external sensors?
A: Yes, the board features a comprehensive GPIO header that supports I2C, SPI, UART, and PWM, allowing you to easily integrate external sensors, motors, or displays.
