Beautiful gradient effects
The dyeing capability of this brush is outstanding. I can achieve smooth color transitions on petals without streaking. The handle feels balanced and comfortable during long sessions.

Great quality, needs breaking in
The brush arrived with a protective glue tip as expected. After washing it out gently, the hairs separated beautifully. It took a few uses to reach peak softness, but now it is fantastic.

Exceptional control for fine details
I purchased the small size for painting bird eyes and flower stamens. The goat hair holds ink perfectly and creates a sharp point every time. Highly recommended for traditional Gongbi style.

Superior water retention
Unlike synthetic brushes, this goat hair brush holds a generous amount of wash. I can paint several leaves before needing to reload ink. Excellent craftsmanship from Qunqingtang.

I use the medium brush for outlining robes and facial features. The reinforced base prevents splaying even when applying slight pressure. A reliable tool for serious artists.

A: Yes, the tip is secured with a mild glue for shipping. Please soak the tip in lukewarm water for a few minutes until the glue dissolves, then rinse gently and reshape the tip before drying.
Q: How should I store the brush to maintain its shape?
A: After cleaning and reshaping the tip while damp, let it air dry horizontally or hang it with the tip facing down. Once dry, store it in a breathable brush roll or case to protect the hairs.
Q: Is this brush suitable for sumi-e or just colored painting?
A: This brush is versatile. While optimized for dyeing and colored traditional painting, the fine goat hair tip also performs excellently for ink wash techniques and fine line work in Sumi-e.
Q: Can this brush handle thick acrylic paints?
A: No, this brush is designed specifically for fluid media like watercolor, traditional Chinese ink, and gouache. Thick acrylics may damage the delicate goat hair and ruin the fine point.
