Great quality, slight variance
Overall fantastic mallets. One of the pair was slightly heavier than the other, but after some minor sanding, they matched perfectly. The sound projection in a concert hall setting is impressive.

Good value with protective case
Very happy with this purchase. The storage tube is a nice touch as bamboo can crack if left exposed to humidity changes. The mallets produce a very clean sound, though they took a few days to break in.

The gold standard for Yangqin players
These Tian Weining mallets are exactly what I needed to upgrade my sound. The bamboo is perfectly aged, providing a crisp attack without being too harsh. The balance is exceptional, allowing for fast tremolo techniques with less fatigue.

Excellent tone and durability
I have been playing Yangqin for ten years and these are the best mallets I have owned. The included tube is sturdy and keeps them safe during transport. The tone is much warmer than my previous synthetic pair.

Authentic vintage feel
These mallets have that authentic vintage feel that modern mass-produced ones lack. The bamboo grain is tight and consistent. Highly recommend for anyone serious about traditional Chinese music.

Perfect for professional performance

Q: What is the return policy if the bamboo arrives cracked?
A: If your mallets arrive with any damage such as cracks or splits, please contact us within 7 days with photos. We will immediately send a replacement pair at no additional cost to you.
Q: Does the storage tube seal tightly against moisture?
A: The included tube has a snap-fit cap that provides good protection against dust and minor humidity fluctuations. However, for long-term storage in very humid climates, we recommend adding a silica gel packet inside.
Q: Are these mallets suitable for a beginner student?
A: While beginners can use them, these are designed with professional tension and weight in mind. A complete novice might find them slightly heavy until their technique develops, but they are excellent for growing into.
Q: How does the sound compare to rubber-headed mallets?
A: Bamboo mallets like these produce a brighter, more percussive, and articulate sound compared to rubber heads, which tend to be softer and mellower. Bamboo is preferred for traditional repertoire requiring clear note separation.
Q: Can I buy just the left-hand mallet if I lose one?
A: Currently, we only sell these Tian Weining mallets as a matched pair to ensure tonal consistency and weight balance between the two hands. Individual replacements are not available.
