Good value for research projects

We used this for a university project on pressure distribution in seating. It works well, though the cabling could be slightly more robust. The 16-point data gives a clear picture of load distribution.

Perfect for robotic grip testing

The spatial resolution is excellent for our prototype gripper. The flexible nature allows it to conform to curved surfaces without losing sensitivity. Data acquisition was straightforward with our existing ADC setup.

Solid performance for the price

Easy integration

Responsive and durable

5 FAQ

Q: What is the maximum bending radius before the sensor fails?

A: The sensor can withstand a static bending radius of down to 10mm. For dynamic bending applications, we recommend maintaining a radius of at least 20mm to ensure long-term durability.

Q: Does this module come with the signal conditioning circuitry included?

A: No, this package includes only the passive 4x4 sensor array with an FPC tail. You will need to provide your own multiplexing and signal conditioning circuitry to read the resistive values.

Q: Can this be cut to a smaller size if I only need a 2x2 array?

A: Cutting the sensor is not recommended as it may damage the internal conductive traces and invalidate the calibration of adjacent points. Please contact us for custom smaller arrays if needed.

Q: Is there a Python library available for reading data from this sensor?

A: We do not provide a specific Python library since the output is analog resistance. However, many users successfully interface it using standard ADC libraries on Raspberry Pi or Arduino platforms.

Q: How does temperature fluctuation affect the readings?

A: Like most resistive thin-film sensors, there is a minor thermal coefficient. For high-precision applications, we recommend implementing software-based temperature compensation using a separate thermistor.
