Excellent sensitivity range
Being able to switch between 3-wire and 4-wire configurations makes this versatile for different microcontroller setups. The IR receiver is sensitive enough for early detection without too many false positives.

Fast response time
The reaction time is impressive. As soon as a lighter is ignited within range, the output pin goes low immediately. Integrating this into our smart home prototype was seamless.

Perfect for fire safety projects
This sensor works exactly as described. I used it with an Arduino Uno to build a simple fire alarm system. The sensitivity adjustment via the potentiometer is very responsive, allowing me to fine-tune the detection range easily.

Good value, clear instructions needed
The module itself is high quality and detects candle flames from about 80cm away. However, beginners might need to look up a tutorial online as the included manual is quite brief regarding the 4-wire setup.

Solid build quality
The PCB looks clean and the soldering points are solid. One star off because the mounting holes are slightly tight for standard M3 screws, but nothing a little force couldn't fix.
Q: Does this come with connecting wires?
A: The package typically includes the sensor module only. You will need to provide your own jumper wires to connect it to your microcontroller, which allows you to choose the exact length and color coding you prefer.
Q: What is the difference between the 3-wire and 4-wire configurations?
A: The 3-wire setup uses VCC, GND, and DO (Digital Output). The 4-wire setup adds an AO (Analog Output) pin, which allows you to read the varying intensity of the flame rather than just a binary on/off signal.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Rotate it clockwise to increase sensitivity (longer range) and counter-clockwise to decrease sensitivity (shorter range). Use a small screwdriver for precise adjustments.
Q: Can this sensor detect sunlight or will it trigger false alarms?
A: While strong direct sunlight contains IR radiation, the sensor is tuned specifically for the flicker and wavelength of flames. However, we recommend testing in your specific environment and adjusting the potentiometer to minimize false triggers from ambient light.
Q: Is this module compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP32?
A: Yes, the module operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V DC range, making it fully compatible with ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, and standard 5V Arduino boards.
