Best liquid emulsion on the market
I have tried several brands, but ADOX remains the most reliable. The polywarmtone characteristic allows for creative control that standard papers don't offer. It coats smoothly on heavy rag paper and develops quickly in standard D-76.

Perfect for alternative process enthusiasts
This emulsion delivers exactly the vintage look I was hoping for. The polywarmtone range is incredible; by adjusting the development time, I can get anything from a cool black to a rich sepia. Coating watercolor paper was straightforward once I got the temperature right.

Authentic vintage aesthetic

Good product, strict storage needed
The emulsion works wonderfully, but you must keep it refrigerated. I left it out overnight by mistake and noticed a slight drop in sensitivity. Once I stored it correctly again, the subsequent batches were perfect. Just follow the storage instructions carefully.

Great results but requires practice
The quality of the silver halide is top-notch, typical of German engineering. However, beginners should know that liquid emulsion is tricky. My first few sheets were uneven, but after watching some tutorials on heating and pouring, my success rate improved significantly.

Beautiful warm tones on fabric

A: Absolutely. You can use any standard black and white fixer, such as sodium thiosulfate or ammonium thiosulfate based fixers. Fixing times may vary slightly depending on the substrate thickness, so agitate constantly.
Q: Does the emulsion come pre-sensitized?
A: Yes, the ADOX Polywarmtone emulsion comes fully sensitized and ready to use after melting. No additional silver nitrate or sensitizing dyes are required before coating.
Q: Can this emulsion be coated onto wood surfaces?
A: Yes, this emulsion adheres well to sized wood surfaces. We recommend applying a gelatin size or acrylic gesso base coat first to prevent the emulsion from soaking in too deeply, which ensures better image sharpness.
Q: How many square feet does one bottle cover?
A: Coverage depends heavily on the absorption rate of your substrate and the desired coating thickness. On average, a standard bottle covers approximately 10 to 15 square feet when coated at a standard weight on watercolor paper.
Q: What is the ideal temperature for melting and coating?
A: The emulsion should be gently heated to approximately 40°C (104°F) until fully liquid. Do not exceed 50°C (122°F) as high heat can damage the silver halides. Maintain this temperature while coating for best flow.
