Great value but documentation could be better
Hardware quality is top-notch. The RGB LED is a nice touch for status indicators. I deducted one star because the pinout diagram in the wiki was slightly confusing at first glance, but community forums helped.

Good performance, runs hot under load
The processing power is impressive for the price. However, when driving the display at full brightness while using Wi-Fi, it gets noticeably warm. Adding a small heatsink solved the issue for my long-term test.

Excellent learning tool

Love the integrated screen
No more jumper wires for a basic display! This makes prototyping so much faster. The colors on the LCD are vibrant, and the touch response (if supported in your code) is snappy. Will buy again.

Solid build quality
I've purchased several Waveshare boards, and this one stands out. The USB-C port is sturdy, and the form factor is compact enough to fit into small enclosures. Highly recommended for industrial prototypes.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython out of the box?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 chip is fully compatible with MicroPython. You will need to flash the firmware using a tool like esptool.py, but no additional hardware drivers are required.
Q: Can I use this with the Arduino IDE?
A: Absolutely. You just need to add the ESP32 board manager URL to your Arduino IDE preferences and install the ESP32 package by Espressif Systems.
Q: Does it come with a case or enclosure?
A: No, the package includes only the development board and a USB Type-C cable. Cases are sold separately or can be 3D printed using the dimension files available on our wiki.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for the 3.3V pin?
A: The onboard LDO regulator can supply up to 500mA. However, for high-power peripherals, we recommend using an external power source to ensure stability.
Q: Is the display resistive or capacitive touch?
A: This specific model features a standard IPS LCD without touch capabilities. It is designed for visual output only. If you need touch, please check our ESP32-S3 Touch LCD series.
