Great upgrade from ESP32
Switched from the original ESP32 for a vision project. The S3 chip handles camera data much better. Pinout is standard enough to fit most existing shields.

Best value dev board
For the price, you cannot beat the specs. 16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM is generous. The build quality of the Lu Xiaoban version is solid.

Reliable for industrial prototyping
Used this for a smart sensor gateway prototype. Stable Wi-Fi connection and the extra flash storage allowed for over-the-air updates without issues.

Good for university projects
Using this for my final year robotics project. It compiles fast and runs complex logic smoothly. Only wish the documentation was slightly more detailed in English.

Powerful but needs learning
Very capable board with lots of memory. If you are new to ESP32-S3, be aware that some libraries need updates to support the new architecture fully.
Q: Is this compatible with the Arduino IDE?
A: Absolutely. You can install the ESP32 board manager package in Arduino IDE and select 'ESP32S3 Dev Module' to start programming immediately.
Q: Does this board support external antenna connections?
A: Yes, the board includes an IPEX connector for an external Wi-Fi/Bluetooth antenna if you need extended range beyond the onboard PCB antenna.
Q: What is the maximum current output on the 3.3V pin?
A: The onboard LDO regulator can typically supply up to 600mA, but we recommend drawing no more than 500mA for stable operation when using Wi-Fi.
Q: Can I use this board for face recognition tasks?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 has vector instructions optimized for neural networks. While not as powerful as a GPU, it can handle basic face detection and recognition using frameworks like ESP-WHO.
Q: Does the package include a USB cable?
A: The standard package usually includes the board only. Please check your specific retailer's listing, as some bundles may include a USB-C to USB-A cable.
