Robust and reliable for HMI applications

Great hardware, steep learning curve
The hardware quality is excellent with robust connectors. However, if you are new to embedded Linux, be prepared to spend time configuring the Yocto environment. Once set up, performance is stellar.

Good board but Wi-Fi drivers were tricky
Hardware is powerful, but I faced some issues getting the Wi-Fi module recognized in the default image. Had to compile custom drivers. Support eventually helped me resolve it.

Ideal for our university robotics course
We purchased ten units for our senior design projects. The ability to interface with standard sensors via GPIO while running Python scripts on Linux makes it a versatile teaching tool.
Q: Does this board come with a heatsink or fan for the processor?
A: The standard package includes a passive aluminum heatsink pre-attached to the STM32MP157 chip. A cooling fan is not included but can be added via the provided mounting holes if needed for extreme loads.
Q: What is the voltage level of the GPIO pins?
A: Most GPIO pins operate at 3.3V logic levels. Please refer to the specific pinout diagram in the user manual before connecting 5V devices to avoid damaging the board.
Q: Can I use Android OS on this development board?
A: While the hardware is capable, the manufacturer officially supports Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, Yocto). Android ports are community-driven and not officially supported or tested by Forlinx.
Q: Is there a JTAG header available for debugging?
A: Yes, the board features a standard 20-pin JTAG/SWD header labeled 'JTAG' near the edge, compatible with ST-LINK/V2 and other standard debuggers.
Q: How do I access the eMMC storage from my host PC?
A: You can access the eMMC by booting into U-Boot and using USB gadget mode to mount the storage as a mass storage device, or by removing the eMMC chip if you have reflow equipment (not recommended for beginners).
