Solid hardware, minor driver hiccup
The board itself is well-built and the Artix-7 chip handles my digital signal processing projects easily. I had a small issue installing the USB drivers on Windows 11 initially, but support helped me resolve it quickly.

Excellent for prototyping video pipelines
I am using this for a university project involving real-time video filtering. The DDR3 memory bandwidth is sufficient for 720p processing, and the HDMI TX implementation is robust. Highly recommended for academic use.

Good specs for the price point
For an entry-level Artix-7 board, the resource count is impressive. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the silk screen labels on the GPIO pins are a bit small to read without a magnifier.

Reliable industrial control prototype base
We used this board to prototype a motor control algorithm before moving to a custom PCB. The stability over long runtimes was excellent, and the temperature remained low even under load.

Perfect for learning FPGA basics

Great community support
Not only is the hardware reliable, but there are many open-source projects specifically targeting this Black Gold series. It made finding example code for the PMOD interfaces very easy.
Q: Where can I download the schematic and constraint files?
A: All hardware documentation, including schematics, pin constraint files (.xdc), and demo source code, can be found on the official ALINX GitHub repository linked in the product manual.
Q: Can I use standard Arduino shields with the PMOD headers?
A: Direct connection is not possible as PMOD and Arduino shield pinouts differ. However, you can purchase simple PMOD-to-Shield adapter boards to interface with many standard sensors and modules.
Q: Is this compatible with Vivado 2023.1?
A: Absolutely. The XC7A35T device is fully supported in Vivado 2023.1 and newer versions. You will need to install the Artix-7 device support during the Vivado installation process.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported by the HDMI port?
A: The onboard HDMI transmitter supports resolutions up to 1920x1080 at 60Hz. Lower resolutions like 1280x720 are also fully supported for easier timing constraints in beginner projects.
Q: Does this board come with a power adapter included?
A: Yes, the package includes a 5V/2A DC power adapter compatible with the barrel jack input, as well as a Micro-USB cable for programming and power.
