Solid performance
Good clone of the original design. The antenna range is decent for indoor use. I deducted one star because the USB port feels slightly loose, but it hasn't affected functionality yet.

Easy to learn on
As a beginner, I found this board very forgiving. There are tons of tutorials online specifically for the ESP32 D1 R32 form factor. The dual-core processing is a nice bonus for more complex tasks.

Great value but needs driver install
Excellent hardware for the price. Just remember to install the CH340 drivers before connecting to your computer, otherwise it won't show up in the device manager. Once that was done, uploading code was smooth.

Perfect for IoT Projects
This board works flawlessly with the Arduino IDE. The built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth make it ideal for my home automation sensors. Setup was quick and the pinout is clearly labeled.
Q: Does it support Over-The-Air (OTA) updates?
A: Absolutely. The ESP32 chip supports OTA updates, allowing you to upload new firmware wirelessly via Wi-Fi once the initial program is uploaded via USB.
Q: Does this come with a USB cable included?
A: Typically, the board is sold without a USB cable. Please check the specific package listing you are purchasing, as some bundles may include a micro-USB cable separately.
Q: Can I power this board with a 9V battery?
A: Yes, the board has a voltage regulator that accepts input voltages typically between 5V and 12V via the VIN pin or the barrel jack if present, making a 9V battery suitable.
Q: What is the maximum current draw per GPIO pin?
A: Each GPIO pin can safely source or sink approximately 12mA. The total current drawn from all GPIOs combined should not exceed the limits specified in the ESP32 datasheet to avoid damaging the chip.
Q: Is this board compatible with the standard Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, this board is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. You will need to add the ESP32 board manager URL to your preferences and install the ESP32 package by Espressif Systems.
