Reliable for industrial prototyping
We used these for a quick prototype of a sensor node. The dual-core processor handles multitasking well, and the power consumption in deep sleep mode is impressively low. Will be ordering more for our next batch.

Perfect for compact IoT projects
The SuperMini form factor is exactly what I needed for my wearable project. The USB-C connection makes flashing code incredibly easy without needing a separate programmer. Wi-Fi connectivity is stable and the Bluetooth LE works flawlessly with my phone app.

Solid board, minor pin labeling issue
The board works great and connects immediately to the Arduino IDE. My only complaint is that the silk screen printing for some GPIO pins is a bit small to read without a magnifier. Otherwise, performance is excellent for the price.

Great upgrade from ESP32-C3
Switched to this S3 board for the extra PSRAM and AI instruction set support. Compilation times are fast, and it handles image processing tasks much better than previous generations. Highly recommend for anyone doing edge AI experiments.

Good value but runs warm
Functionality is top-notch and the size is amazing. I noticed it gets slightly warm when running Wi-Fi and Bluetooth simultaneously at high throughput, but nothing concerning. Just ensure good ventilation in your enclosure.

Beginner friendly
As someone new to embedded systems, this board was very easy to set up. The community support for ESP32 is huge, so finding example code for sensors and displays was simple. The built-in LED is a nice touch for debugging.
Q: Can I power this board with a 3.7V LiPo battery directly?
A: No, you should not connect a LiPo battery directly to the 5V or 3.3V pins. This specific SuperMini model does not have a built-in charging circuit. You need an external TP4056 charger module or a dedicated power management board to safely use a LiPo battery.
Q: Does it support OTA (Over-The-Air) updates?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 chip fully supports OTA updates. You can implement this using the Arduino OTA library or the ESP-IDF OTA components to update your firmware wirelessly over Wi-Fi.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for the 3.3V pin?
A: The onboard LDO regulator can typically supply up to 500mA, but we recommend keeping the load on the 3.3V pin under 300mA for stability, especially if the USB source is limited. For high-power peripherals, use an external power source.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython out of the box?
A: The board hardware is fully compatible with MicroPython. However, you will need to flash the MicroPython firmware onto the board yourself using a tool like esptool.py, as it typically ships with no firmware or a basic demo.
Q: Is the pin header pre-soldered?
A: No, to keep the profile as low as possible and allow for flexible mounting options, the board comes with a separate pin header strip in the package. You will need to solder them on yourself or use female headers to plug it into a breadboard.
