Good value, needs calibration
Solid build quality for the price. I noticed a slight offset at zero load, but it was easily corrected in software. The screw terminals are secure and hold wires well.

Compact and functional
Small footprint fits nicely on my custom PCB prototype. The only reason for 4 stars is that the silk screen printing is a bit faint, but functionality is 100%.

Perfect for Arduino projects
This module works exactly as described. The output voltage scales linearly with the current, making it very easy to interface with my Arduino Uno. Great for monitoring battery discharge rates.
Q: Can this module measure AC current?
A: No, the MAX471 is designed specifically for DC current measurement only. Using it with AC signals will not provide accurate results.

A: No, the module typically ships with unsoldered pin headers or screw terminals only, allowing you to choose your preferred connection method.
Q: What is the maximum supply voltage this module can handle?
A: The module operates safely with a supply voltage between 3.5V and 26V. Please do not exceed 26V to avoid damaging the chip.
Q: Is isolation provided between the load and the sensor?
A: No, this is a non-isolated high-side current sensor. The ground of the sensor is common with the load ground. For isolation, consider a Hall-effect based sensor.
Q: How do I calculate the current from the output voltage?
A: The sensitivity is 1V per Ampere. Simply measure the output voltage; for example, 1.5V output corresponds to 1.5A of current flowing through the load.
