Solid performance for the price
We use these in our high school robotics club. They survive being dropped and wired incorrectly occasionally. Not industrial grade, but excellent for education and prototyping.

Works but needs calibration
The module functions as described, but I noticed slight variations between the two units I bought. Had to calibrate them individually in code to get precise measurements.

Good value but sensitive to angle
Great price for a pack of these. They work well, but you need to make sure the target is relatively flat and perpendicular to the sensor. Angled surfaces sometimes give erratic readings.

Essential component for beginners
If you are learning embedded systems, this is a must-have. It teaches timing, pulses, and sound physics practically. Documentation online is plentiful which helps debugging.

Reliable and consistent
I've used dozens of these for various school projects. They are robust and handle 5V logic levels perfectly. The US-100 version included here also supports UART mode which is a nice bonus.

Perfect for Arduino robotics projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The range is accurate up to about 3 meters in my testing, which is perfect for my obstacle avoidance robot. Setup was easy using standard libraries.
Q: Does the package include jumper wires?
A: No, the package contains only the ultrasonic sensor modules. Jumper wires and microcontroller boards are sold separately.
Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP32?
A: Yes, but you may need a voltage divider on the Echo pin. The VCC should remain at 5V for the sensor to operate correctly, while the Trig pin can accept 3.3V high signals. The Echo output is 5V, so step it down to 3.3V before connecting to the ESP32 GPIO.
Q: What is the minimum detection distance?
A: The minimum measurable distance is approximately 2cm. Objects closer than this may not be detected reliably due to the ringing time of the transducer after sending the burst.
Q: How do I switch between PWM and UART mode on the US-100?
A: The US-100 has a jumpers cap on the back. Keep the jumper closed for PWM mode (compatible with HC-SR04). Remove the jumper to enable UART serial communication mode. Please refer to the datasheet for baud rate settings.
Q: Can this sensor measure distances underwater?
A: No, this ultrasonic sensor is designed for air only. Sound waves propagate differently in water, and the module is not waterproof or calibrated for liquid environments.
