Reliable obstacle detection
Installed this on an automatic gate system. It detects humans and vehicles accurately. Setup took a bit of time to configure the baud rate, but once done, it works great.

Excellent human detection

Good sensor, documentation could be better
The hardware is solid and accurate, but the manual for the Modbus registers was a bit vague. Had to contact support to get the right hex codes. Works well now though.

Great value for industrial use
Much better than the cheap ultrasonic sensors I used before. The range is consistent and the build quality feels premium. Highly recommend for automation tasks.

A: Ultrasonic sensors generally struggle with soft or highly angled transparent surfaces. While it may detect thick glass, we recommend testing your specific application scenario as absorption rates vary.
Q: Can this module communicate directly with a Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, but since it uses RS485, you will need a USB-to-RS485 adapter or a HAT to interface it with the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins.
Q: What is the maximum cable length supported for the 485 connection?
A: The RS485 protocol supports cable lengths up to 1200 meters depending on the baud rate and cable quality. We recommend using shielded twisted pair cables for long distances.
Q: Is the detection angle adjustable?
A: No, the beam angle is fixed at approximately ±15 degrees to ensure consistent performance. Physical barriers can be used to narrow the field of view if needed.
