Great for educational kits
We bought a batch for our robotics workshop. Students find them easy to understand and implement. The through-beam design makes the physics of detection very visible.

Good value, sensitive alignment needed
Great module for the price. You need to ensure the emitter and receiver are perfectly aligned during installation, but once set, it counts reliably. Used it with an Arduino Uno without issues.

Easy to integrate
As someone new to sensors, I found this very easy to use. The LEDs clearly show when power is on and when an object breaks the beam. Highly recommended for beginners.

Robust and reliable

Perfect for my conveyor counter project
This sensor works exactly as described. The slot width is ideal for detecting small packages on my mini conveyor belt setup. Wiring was straightforward with the clear terminal labels.

Solid performance
Works well for non-contact detection. The only minor issue is that the screw terminals are a bit tight, but that ensures a secure connection. No false triggers so far.
Q: Can this sensor detect transparent objects like glass or clear plastic?
A: While it can detect some transparent materials, through-beam infrared sensors work best with opaque or semi-opaque objects. For clear glass, detection may be inconsistent depending on thickness and angle.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: This specific model does not have a potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment. It is factory-calibrated for optimal performance in standard lighting conditions. Shielding from direct sunlight is recommended for outdoor use.
Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V logic systems like ESP32?
A: Yes, the module operates on DC 5V-24V for power, but the output signal is typically compatible with 3.3V logic. However, we recommend checking the specific output voltage levels in the datasheet for your specific batch.
Q: Does it come with a mounting bracket?
A: The module includes integrated holes on the PCB for direct screw mounting. A separate external bracket is not included, but standard M3 screws fit the holes perfectly.
Q: What is the maximum distance between the emitter and receiver?
A: This is a fixed slot-type module, so the distance is predetermined by the housing size, which is 10mm. It is not designed for adjustable long-range detection.
