Functional but calibration takes time
The module functions correctly, but be patient with the calibration process. It took a few days of continuous power to get stable readings in our workshop environment. Good product overall once settled.

Perfect for my Arduino safety project
This sensor module works exactly as described. I connected it to my Arduino Uno and had readings within minutes after the initial preheat. The digital output threshold is adjustable via the potentiometer, which is very handy.

Works well with Raspberry Pi
Integrated this into a home monitoring system using a Raspberry Pi. The analog reading allows me to graph gas levels over time. Only downside is the power consumption is slightly higher than expected during preheating.

Good sensitivity, needs warm-up
The sensor is quite sensitive to gas leaks during testing. Just remember that it requires a long preheat time (about 24 hours) before the first use to stabilize the baseline. Once warmed up, it performs well.

Great value for money
For the price, you cannot beat this module. It includes both analog and digital outputs, making it versatile for different microcontrollers. The PCB quality looks solid and the pins are well-soldered.
Q: Is the output voltage compatible with 3.3V logic systems?
A: The module operates at 5V. While the analog output scales with voltage, the digital output high level will be near 5V. For 3.3V systems like some ESP32 configurations, a voltage divider or logic level shifter is recommended for the digital pin.
Q: Does this module require an external library to work with Arduino?
A: No external library is strictly necessary for basic usage. You can read the digital output using a standard digitalRead() function and the analog output using analogRead().
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity threshold for the digital alarm?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the back of the PCB. Rotate it clockwise to increase sensitivity (trigger at lower gas concentrations) and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: Can this detect natural gas or only carbon monoxide?
A: The MQ-9 sensor is designed to detect Carbon Monoxide (CO) as well as combustible gases like LPG, Propane, and Methane (natural gas).
Q: What is the exact preheat time required before the sensor is accurate?
A: We recommend a preheat time of at least 24 hours for the first use to ensure the sensor element stabilizes. Subsequent power cycles may require less time, but 20-30 minutes is advisable.
