Great sensor, instructions could be better
The hardware is fantastic, but the included paper manual is quite basic. You will need to look up online tutorials for optimal wiring diagrams. Otherwise, a solid purchase.

Consistent performance
I have tested these under various ambient light conditions, and they remain stable. The infrared emitter and receiver pair is well-aligned on the PCB. Highly recommended for beginners.

Reliable obstacle detection
While primarily marketed for line tracking, I used these for short-range obstacle avoidance. They detect objects within 2cm reliably. The digital output makes interfacing with microcontrollers very simple.

Perfect for my Arduino line follower
These sensors work exactly as described. The sensitivity adjustment via the potentiometer is very responsive, allowing me to fine-tune the detection range for black tape on white surfaces. Great value for the price.

Excellent for university projects

Good quality but needs calibration
The build quality is solid and the pins are well-soldered. However, you do need to spend some time calibrating the distance under different lighting conditions. Once set up, it tracks lines smoothly.
Q: Does this package include jumper wires?
A: No, this listing is for the sensor modules only. Jumper wires and mounting hardware are sold separately. Please check our accessories section for compatible cables.
Q: What is the maximum current consumption of this module?
A: The module typically consumes around 20mA when the IR LED is active. Please ensure your power supply can handle the total current if you are using multiple sensors.
Q: Can this sensor work outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: Direct sunlight contains a lot of infrared radiation which can interfere with the sensor's readings. It is recommended to use a shield or operate the robot in shaded areas for best results.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Rotate it clockwise to increase sensitivity (longer distance) and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Use a small screwdriver for precise adjustments.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins?
A: Yes, it is compatible. Since the output is digital, you can connect the OUT pin to a GPIO input pin. Just ensure you are using the 3.3V or 5V power rail appropriately for your Pi model.
