Good consistency
Testing shows very low variance in repeated measurements. The form factor is compact enough for tight enclosures. Would recommend for prototyping.
Q: How does ambient sunlight affect performance?
A: As an industrial-grade sensor, it has good ambient light immunity. However, direct intense sunlight may reduce the effective maximum range slightly. Indoor use yields optimal results.
Q: Does this module work with 5V logic levels?
A: The sensor operates at 3.3V. While the I2C lines are often tolerant, we strongly recommend using a logic level shifter if connecting to a 5V microcontroller to ensure longevity.
Q: Can this measure through glass?
A: No, ToF laser sensors generally cannot measure distance through transparent materials like clear glass as the laser passes through rather than reflecting back. It works best on opaque surfaces.
Q: What is the sampling rate of this sensor?
A: The maximum sampling rate is approximately 20Hz (50ms per measurement), depending on the I2C bus speed and your host controller's processing time.
Q: Is there a library available for Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, we provide a Python library compatible with Raspberry Pi OS on our GitHub repository. It includes examples for continuous ranging and single-shot modes.
