Great for classroom demos
Bought three of these for our physics unit on light spectrum. Students loved seeing real-time data. One unit had a slightly loose pin, but easy to solder back on.

Easy to use for beginners
I was worried about wiring this up, but the pins are clearly labeled. Plenty of tutorials online helped me get it running in under an hour. Highly recommend!

Perfect for my weather station project
This UV sensor module works exactly as described. The analog output is stable and correlates well with local weather reports. Easy to connect to my Arduino Uno.

Compact and reliable

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
Great little sensor for monitoring sunlight exposure for my plants. It took a bit of code tweaking to get the readings in a useful range, but overall very satisfied.
Q: Do you provide sample code for Raspberry Pi?
A: Since the Raspberry Pi lacks native analog inputs, you will need an external ADC (like the MCP3008). We provide example Python scripts for this setup on our GitHub repository linked in the product manual.
Q: Can this sensor detect UVC light from germicidal lamps?
A: The sensor has a detection range of approximately 200nm to 370nm, which covers UVA, UVB, and part of UVC. However, for safety reasons, we recommend testing cautiously when exposing electronics to high-intensity UVC sources.
Q: What is the maximum distance for accurate sunlight detection?
A: As a proximity sensor for ambient light, it is designed to measure the UV intensity of the environment it is placed in, rather than detecting sources from a distance. Direct exposure to sunlight yields the best results.
Q: Does this module work directly with 5V Arduino boards?
A: Yes, the S12SD module operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with standard 5V Arduino boards like the Uno and Mega.
Q: Is there a digital output option or only analog?
A: This specific S12SD model provides an analog voltage output proportional to UV intensity. If you require a digital signal, you will need to read the analog pin and process it via your microcontroller's ADC.
