Reliable and fast response
I've tested several rain sensors and this one has the fastest reaction time. As soon as a drop hits, the digital pin flips. Excellent for protecting outdoor electronics.

Good sensor, needs protection
The module itself is great, but the exposed nickel plating will corrode over time if left in the elements without a conformal coating. Once I sprayed it with clear coat, it has been working for months.

Great value for learning projects
Bought this for a university weather station project. It's cheap and effective. The analog output gives nice granular data on how heavy the rain is. Just make sure to coat the contacts if leaving outside long-term.

Perfect for my automated garden system
This sensor works exactly as described. I connected it to my Arduino to trigger a cover when it starts raining. The sensitivity adjustment is very responsive and easy to dial in.

Bulk buy for our club
Ordered ten of these for our high school robotics club. All of them worked out of the box. Great teaching tool for explaining analog vs digital signals.

Easy to integrate with ESP32
Plug and play with my ESP32 setup. The voltage range is flexible enough to run directly off 3.3V logic without level shifters. Very happy with the purchase.
Q: Does this come with connecting wires?
A: The module typically comes without pre-attached wires, but it has standard 0.1-inch pitch pins compatible with Dupont jumper wires, which are sold separately.
Q: Is the output signal 5V tolerant if I use a 3.3V microcontroller?
A: Yes, the module operates between 3.3V and 5V. If you power it with 3.3V, the output high will be 3.3V, which is safe for your microcontroller. If powered by 5V, you may need a voltage divider or level shifter for the data pin.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity threshold?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the back of the PCB. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (trigger with less water) or counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: What is the expected lifespan if left outdoors permanently?
A: While the electronics are durable, the exposed sensing traces are prone to oxidation over time. We recommend applying a thin layer of conformal coating or epoxy to the traces (avoiding the adjustment pot) to extend its life outdoors.
Q: Can this sensor detect standing water or only falling rain?
A: This module can detect both. The sensing traces act as a variable resistor; whether water falls on it or it is submerged, the conductivity changes and triggers the output.
