Reliable detection
I have tested this against a commercial weather station, and the trigger times are nearly identical. The ESP32 integration makes it easy to send data directly to my home server via WiFi without needing extra bridges.

Solid performance in heavy rain
Works well even during torrential downpours. The analog output gives a nice gradient of water intensity which is useful for logging data trends. Just ensure you conformal coat the ESP32 if leaving it exposed long-term.

Great value, minor soldering needed
The module functions exactly as described. I appreciated the dual output options. The only reason for 4 stars is that the header pins were not pre-soldered, so be prepared to do a little work before mounting.
Q: What is the maximum cable length for the sensor extension?
A: For reliable signal integrity, especially with the analog output, we recommend keeping extension cables under 2 meters. If you need longer distances, consider using shielded cables or digital signal boosters.
Q: Does this come with code examples for MicroPython?
A: While the package includes basic wiring diagrams, we host a repository of MicroPython and C++ examples on our GitHub page specifically for this ESP32 rain module. The link is in the user manual.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 5V USB charger?
A: Yes, the module supports an input voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, so a standard 5V USB power source is perfectly safe and suitable for operation.
Q: How do I calibrate the sensitivity for light drizzle?
A: Use the onboard potentiometer (the blue screw component). Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity for light drizzle and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Test with a spray bottle to find your ideal setting.
Q: Is this module waterproof or just the sensor pad?
A: The sensor pad is designed to get wet, but the ESP32 chip and other components on the PCB are not fully waterproof. We recommend placing the module in a ventilated enclosure or applying a conformal coating for long-term outdoor use.
