Reliable and Fast Response
We bought ten of these for our workshop kits. Students find them easy to integrate, and the response time is fast enough for real-time control applications. No dead pixels or connection issues so far.

Exceeded expectations
I've tried other gesture sensors that were flaky, but the PAJ7620U2 is consistent. The ability to distinguish between swipe directions and circular motions adds a lot of versatility to UI designs.

Great value, minor learning curve
The hardware quality is excellent for the price. It took me a little while to calibrate the sensitivity for my specific enclosure, but once tuned, it recognizes all 9 gestures reliably. Highly recommended for robotics projects.

Easy to use for beginners
As someone new to sensors, I was worried about the complexity. The documentation is clear, and the sample code got me up and running in under an hour. It's a fun way to add touchless control to projects.

Solid performance on ESP32
Integrated this with an ESP32 for a smart lamp project. The I2C address is standard, making integration smooth. Only giving 4 stars because the detection range drops slightly if there is direct sunlight hitting the sensor.
Q: Does this module work with 5V logic levels directly?
A: Yes, the PAJ7620U2 module supports both 3.3V and 5V operating voltages, making it compatible with most microcontrollers without needing a level shifter.
Q: What is the exact I2C address for this sensor?
A: The default I2C address for the PAJ7620U2 is typically 0x73. Please refer to the datasheet for details on how to change this if you need to connect multiple sensors on the same bus.
Q: Can I customize the gestures or am I limited to the 9 built-in types?
A: The module comes with 9 pre-defined gestures optimized for general use. While the firmware is proprietary, you can interpret the raw data stream to create custom logic in your host code, though the core recognition algorithms are fixed.
Q: How does ambient light affect the performance?
A: The sensor has built-in compensation for ambient light changes. However, extreme direct sunlight or very dark environments may slightly reduce the effective detection range. Indoor lighting conditions generally pose no issues.
Q: Is there a library available for Python on Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, there are several open-source Python libraries available on GitHub specifically for the PAJ7620 series that work well with Raspberry Pi. We provide links to popular repositories in our product wiki.
