Low latency and high precision
I am using this for a balancing robot project. The low latency of the SPI bus allows for much tighter control loops. The module arrived well-packaged and the soldering pads are easy to work with.

Solid upgrade from MPU6050
Noticeable improvement in noise reduction over the older 6050 model. The only reason for 4 stars is that it requires 3.3V logic strictly, so level shifters are needed for 5V Arduino boards.

Perfect for custom flight controllers
The SPI interface makes data retrieval incredibly fast compared to I2C modules I've used before. Integration with my STM32 board was straightforward using the provided datasheet registers. Very stable readings even under vibration.

Great sensor, needs careful calibration
Excellent accuracy once calibrated. The documentation could be slightly more beginner-friendly regarding the register map, but there are plenty of community libraries available. Good value for the price.

Reliable industrial grade performance
We deployed these in a prototype wearable device. The power consumption is low, and the temperature stability is impressive. The 6DOF fusion works smoothly when paired with a simple Kalman filter.

Best in class for DIY projects
Fast shipping and genuine product. The angular velocity measurements are crisp. I successfully implemented motion gesture recognition with minimal lag. Highly recommended for advanced hobbyists.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V microcontrollers like the standard Arduino Uno?
A: The MPU6500 operates at 3.3V. While some modules have onboard regulators, the logic pins are generally not 5V tolerant. We recommend using a logic level shifter or a 3.3V microcontroller board to ensure safe operation.
Q: What is the maximum SPI clock speed supported by this sensor?
A: According to the specifications, the SPI interface supports clock speeds up to 7 MHz, allowing for high-frequency data sampling suitable for fast-moving applications.
Q: How do I access the Digital Motion Processor (DMP) features?
A: Accessing the DMP requires loading specific firmware into the sensor's memory via the I2C or SPI interface. We provide a guide on our wiki detailing the firmware loading process and how to utilize the quaternion output.
Q: Can I use this for underwater robotics?
A: The sensor module itself is not waterproof. However, if you seal it properly inside a waterproof housing while ensuring thermal dissipation, it can function correctly underwater as pressure does not affect the MEMS elements significantly within normal depths.
Q: Does this come with example code for Raspberry Pi?
A: The package includes a link to a GitHub repository with Python and C++ examples for Raspberry Pi, as well as libraries for common platforms like STM32 and ESP32.
