Great for classroom kits
We ordered a bulk pack for our after-school coding club. Every single module worked out of the box. Students find the potentiometer easy to adjust during calibration exercises.

Reliable obstacle avoidance
Using two of these for obstacle avoidance on a small rover. They respond quickly and consistently. The build quality feels solid for an educational component.

Works well once calibrated
Took me a little while to figure out the right distance for detection, but once I adjusted the screw, it has been very stable. Good documentation online helped too.

Excellent sensitivity range
The analog output gives you a lot of flexibility if you need more than just a binary signal. I used it to measure proximity gradients rather than just hit/miss. Highly recommended.

Perfect for my line follower robot
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The sensitivity adjustment is very precise, allowing me to tune it perfectly for black tape on a white floor. Great value for the price.

Good quality, easy to use
Bought this for a university project. It arrived quickly and was easy to integrate into our code. The only reason for 4 stars is that the included wires are a bit short, but otherwise excellent.
Q: What is the maximum sampling rate for this sensor?
A: While not explicitly limited by the module itself, the response time is extremely fast (microseconds). The actual sampling rate will depend on your microcontroller's code and processing speed.
Q: Does this module come with mounting screws?
A: No, the package typically includes the sensor module and a set of jumper wires. Mounting screws are not included, but the standard 3mm holes fit most M3 screws commonly found in electronics kits.
Q: Can I use this outdoors in sunlight?
A: Outdoor use in direct sunlight can be problematic because strong ambient infrared light from the sun may interfere with the sensor's LED. It is recommended for indoor use or shaded outdoor environments.
Q: Is it compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP32?
A: Yes, the module operates on a voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic boards such as the ESP32 and ESP8266 without needing a level shifter.
Q: Can this sensor detect clear glass or transparent objects?
A: Infrared reflective sensors generally struggle with transparent objects like clear glass because the IR light passes through rather than reflecting back. It is best suited for opaque objects or contrasting lines.
