Easy to start with

Great for University Labs

Robust and Reliable

Works well for brewing
Using this to monitor mash temperatures. It's precise enough for brewing beer. Just make sure you use cold junction compensation if your environment varies wildly, though the chip handles most of it automatically.

Good accuracy, slow update rate
The sensor is accurate and easy to wire up. However, keep in mind the conversion time is around 220ms, so it's not suitable for extremely fast transient measurements. Perfect for monitoring ovens or heaters though.

Perfect for Arduino Projects
This module worked flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The SPI communication was stable, and the temperature readings matched my calibrated thermometer within a degree. Great value for hobbyist electronics.
Q: Can I connect multiple sensors to one microcontroller?
A: Absolutely. Since it uses the SPI protocol, you can connect multiple modules to a single microcontroller by using separate Chip Select (CS) pins for each module while sharing the CLK and SO lines.
Q: Does this support negative temperature readings?
A: The MAX6675 chip specifically measures from 0°C to +800°C. If you need to measure negative temperatures, please look for our modules equipped with the MAX31855 chip, which supports down to -200°C.
Q: Is this module compatible with 3.3V logic boards like the Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, the module operates on a voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V, making it directly compatible with 3.3V systems like the Raspberry Pi without needing a level shifter.
Q: What is the maximum length the thermocouple wire can be extended?
A: While the included wire is 1 meter, you can extend K-Type thermocouple wires up to several meters. For best accuracy and noise immunity, we recommend using compensated extension wire and keeping total length under 10 meters.
Q: Is the probe waterproof?
A: The metal tip of the probe is resistant to moisture, but the connection point where the wire meets the mini-plug is not waterproof. Please ensure the connection area remains dry during operation.
