Good quality but needs careful calibration
The build quality is solid and the response time is fast. You do need to spend some time tuning the potentiometer to get the right range for obstacle avoidance, but once set, it works reliably.

Reliable and affordable
I have tried many IR sensors and these offer the best balance of price and performance. No false positives in normal indoor lighting conditions.

Excellent for smart car projects
I used these for a custom RC car upgrade. They detect black tape on the floor perfectly for line tracking. The digital output makes interfacing with microcontrollers very simple.

Perfect for my Arduino line follower
These sensors work flawlessly with my Arduino Uno project. The sensitivity adjustment via the potentiometer makes it very easy to calibrate for different surface colors. Great value for a pair.

Solid performance
Works as advertised. The detection range is consistent once adjusted. One star off because the mounting holes are a bit tight for standard standoffs, but nothing a drill can't fix.

Great for university projects
Bought these for a final year robotics module. They are robust, easy to wire up, and the documentation online is plentiful. Highly recommend for students.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins?
A: Yes, absolutely. Since the module operates on 3.3V to 5V and provides a digital output, it connects directly to Raspberry Pi GPIO pins without needing extra level shifters.
Q: Can I use this to detect clear glass objects?
A: Infrared reflective sensors rely on light reflection. Clear glass may allow IR light to pass through rather than reflecting it back, making detection unreliable. It works best on opaque surfaces.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for one module?
A: Each module typically draws around 10mA to 20mA when the LED is active. Please ensure your power supply can handle the total current if you are using multiple sensors.
Q: Can these sensors work outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: While they can function outdoors, direct sunlight contains strong infrared radiation which may interfere with the sensor's accuracy. We recommend using a shield or testing in shaded areas for best results.
Q: Does the package include connecting wires?
A: The package includes the two sensor modules with header pins soldered on, but jumper wires are not included. You will need to source those separately based on your setup requirements.
