Perfect for smart home automation
This sensor is incredibly sensitive. It detects my presence even when I am sitting still reading a book, which solved the issue of lights turning off prematurely with standard PIR sensors. The UART configuration is straightforward.

Best value mmWave sensor
Compared to other 24GHz modules on the market, this offers the best balance of price and performance. The ability to detect micro-motions like breathing makes it superior to traditional infrared sensors.

Solid performance, warm-up time noted
Works exactly as described. Just note that it takes about 30-60 seconds after power-on to stabilize and start accurate detection. Once running, it has been rock solid for three months.

Compact and powerful
The form factor is tiny, making it easy to hide behind fixtures. The 24GHz frequency provides good penetration through thin plastic covers without losing sensitivity. Documentation could be better, but community examples helped.

Reliable for occupancy counting
We integrated these into our conference room system. They reliably distinguish between an empty room and one with people, even if everyone is stationary during a meeting. Highly recommended for commercial IoT projects.

Great range, needs careful calibration
The detection range is impressive for such a small module. However, you need to spend time tuning the sensitivity thresholds via the serial command set to avoid false positives from ceiling fans or curtains moving.
Q: Can I adjust the detection distance zones?
A: Absolutely. You can configure up to three detection gates (zones) with independent distances and sensitivity levels using the serial configuration commands provided in the datasheet.
Q: Can this sensor detect humans through a wooden door?
A: While 24GHz radar can penetrate some non-metallic materials, detection through a solid wooden door is unreliable and depends heavily on the wood's thickness and density. It is designed for line-of-sight or thin plastic cover applications.
Q: Does it work outdoors in the rain?
A: The bare module itself is not waterproof. For outdoor use, you must house it in an IP65-rated enclosure with a non-metallic front window to protect the electronics from moisture while allowing radar waves to pass.
Q: Is there a library available for ESP32 integration?
A: Yes, several open-source libraries exist for ESP32 and ESP8266 that handle the UART communication and configuration commands for the LD2402 series. Please check our GitHub repository link in the product manual.
Q: What is the maximum baud rate supported?
A: The module supports standard UART baud rates including 9600, 115200, and up to 256000 bps. We recommend using 115200 for the best balance of speed and stability during configuration.
