Great module, documentation could be better
The hardware quality is top-notch and the range is impressive for such a small size. However, the UART protocol documentation took some time to decipher for my ESP32 project. Once figured out, it performs exactly as advertised.

Excellent sensitivity for smart home projects
I integrated this LD2401 module into my Home Assistant setup, and it works flawlessly. Unlike standard PIR sensors, this actually detects when I am sitting still at my desk. The Bluetooth configuration app made setting the detection zones very easy.

Superior to traditional motion sensors
We replaced all our office occupancy sensors with these. The accuracy in detecting static humans allows us to optimize HVAC usage significantly. The 24GHz frequency provides great penetration through thin materials too.

Good value for money
For the price point, you really can't beat the features. It supports both wired UART and wireless Bluetooth debugging. My only minor gripe is that the pin headers were not pre-soldered, but that's expected for modules like this.

A: The Bluetooth 5.0 interface is primarily designed for initial configuration and real-time debugging via the Hi-Link mobile app. For continuous data integration into your system, we recommend using the UART interface.
Q: Does this work with 5V Arduino boards directly?
A: No, the module operates at 3.3V logic levels. Connecting it directly to a 5V board may damage the sensor. You must use a logic level converter or an intermediate 3.3V microcontroller like the ESP32.
Q: What is the maximum distance this module can reliably detect a person?
A: In optimal conditions, the module can detect human presence up to 8 meters. However, the effective range can be adjusted via software settings to suit smaller rooms and reduce interference from adjacent areas.
