Excellent for robotics
Used this on a mobile robot for obstacle avoidance involving humans. The response time is fast enough for slow-moving robots, and the voltage range allows direct connection to many logic levels.

Perfect for compact projects
This sensor is incredibly small and fits perfectly into my wearable electronics project. The detection range is consistent at about 3 meters, and the low power consumption is a huge plus for battery-operated devices.

Great value, fixed delay
Works exactly as described. Just note that the delay time is fixed at 5 seconds, unlike the larger SR501 which is adjustable. For my automatic night light application, this was actually perfect.

Reliable motion detection
We bought ten of these for a student workshop. All units worked out of the box with no dead pixels or faulty connections. The sensitivity is good for detecting human movement without too many false alarms from pets.

Tiny but mighty
Don't let the size fool you. This little module packs a punch. I integrated it into a smart home security prototype, and it responds instantly. The pinout is standard and easy to solder.

Good for beginners
Very easy to connect to an ESP32. The documentation online is plentiful. I deducted one star only because the mounting holes are quite small, so be careful not to strip them when screwing it in.
Q: What is the maximum voltage this module can handle?
A: The module operates safely between DC 4.5V and 20V. We recommend using 5V for standard microcontroller compatibility.
Q: Is the delay time adjustable on the HC-SR505?
A: No, the HC-SR505 has a fixed delay time of approximately 5 seconds. If you require an adjustable delay, please consider the HC-SR501 model.
Q: Can it detect small animals like cats?
A: It depends on the distance. At close range (under 1 meter), it may detect larger cats, but it is primarily optimized for human body heat signatures. Sensitivity decreases with distance.
Q: Can this sensor detect movement through glass?
A: No, PIR sensors generally cannot detect infrared radiation through glass or solid walls. The lens needs a clear line of sight to the heat source.
Q: Does this come with headers pre-soldered?
A: No, the module is shipped without headers to keep the profile low. You will need to solder your own pins or wires depending on your application.
