Great hardware, watch the voltage
Works great, but remember it outputs 3.3V logic. If you are using a 5V microcontroller without level shifting, ensure your board is 5V tolerant on the input pin. Otherwise, perfect sensor.

Reliable and robust
I've been using this in an outdoor security light prototype (housed in a waterproof case). It has survived rain and heat without issues. The delay timer is very useful for keeping lights on.

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
The module detects motion reliably once you spend a minute adjusting the two potentiometers. Initially, it was too sensitive to temperature changes, but after tuning, it only triggers on actual movement.

Essential for robotics class

Exceeded expectations
Very responsive. I use it to automatically turn on my desk lamp when I sit down. The blockade time prevents it from flickering off while I am still moving slightly. Excellent product.

Perfect for Arduino Projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The detection range is accurate, and the sensitivity potentiometer makes it easy to fine-tune for specific room sizes. Great value for the price.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins?
A: Yes, it is fully compatible. Since the output is 3.3V, it connects directly to the Raspberry Pi GPIO without needing a level shifter.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a potentiometer labeled 'Distance' on the board. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity and range, or counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: Does this come with headers pre-soldered?
A: No, the module typically comes with unsoldered pins to allow for flexible mounting options. You will need to solder the 3-pin header yourself.
Q: What is the difference between H and L trigger modes?
A: In H mode (High), the output stays high as long as motion is continuously detected. In L mode (Low), the output goes high for the set delay time once motion is detected, regardless of continued movement.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through glass?
A: No, standard PIR sensors cannot detect infrared radiation through glass. The lens must have a direct line of sight to the subject.
