Perfect for sleep tracking projects

Using this for a non-wearable sleep study project. It detects subtle chest movements without any contact. The UART output is easy to parse with an ESP32. Highly recommended for IoT developers.

Good signal, limited range

The sensor works as advertised for close-range detection (under 2 meters). Beyond that, the signal degrades quickly. For bedside monitoring, it is perfect, but don't expect room-scale coverage.

Impressive accuracy for the size

I integrated this sensor into a prototype health monitor and was surprised by how stable the heartbeat data is. The 60GHz frequency really helps filter out background noise compared to older models.

Solid choice for prototyping

Great module, needs careful calibration

The hardware is solid and the documentation is decent. You do need to spend some time tuning the sensitivity parameters in the code to get accurate breathing rates, but once set, it works well.

5 FAQ

Q: Can this module detect multiple people simultaneously?

A: The LD6002 is primarily optimized for single-subject vital sign monitoring. While it can detect motion from multiple sources, accurately separating heart rates for more than one person is not supported in the standard firmware.

Q: How does movement affect the heart rate reading?

A: Significant body movement can introduce noise that temporarily obscures the heartbeat signal. Our algorithm includes motion tolerance, but for the most accurate heart rate data, the subject should remain relatively still.

Q: Does this sensor require direct line of sight to work?

A: While millimeter wave radar can penetrate thin materials like clothing or light blankets, optimal performance for heart rate detection requires a relatively clear path to the chest area. Heavy obstructions will reduce accuracy.

Q: Is there an SDK available for data processing?

A: Yes, we provide a basic demo package containing C source code for data parsing and initial filtering algorithms. Advanced signal processing logic usually needs to be developed based on your specific application requirements.

Q: What microcontroller is recommended for interfacing?

A: Any MCU with a UART interface working at 3.3V logic levels will work. Popular choices include the ESP32, STM32 series, and Arduino Due. Ensure your baud rate settings match the module configuration.
