Solid choice for robotics obstacle avoidance
Using this for a university robotics project. The update rate is fast enough for slow-moving robots. It handles multiple targets reasonably well, though complex environments require some filtering logic on the microcontroller side.

Best value 24GHz radar on the market
Compared to other modules costing three times as much, this offers comparable performance. The breathing detection feature is a nice bonus for verifying if someone is actually sitting at a desk versus just walking by.

Excellent precision for DIY smart home projects
I integrated this 24GHz module into my living room lighting system. The ability to distinguish between static presence and actual motion is impressive. It doesn't trigger falsely when the curtains move, which was a problem with my old PIR sensors.

Good hardware, sensitive to metal interference
The sensor itself is high quality, but I had to be very careful with the enclosure. Placing it near a large metal sheet caused significant reflection issues. After adjusting the mounting position and sensitivity settings, it performs well.

Great range, documentation could be better
The detection range is solid up to about 10 meters in my testing. The UART output is clean and easy to parse with an ESP32. However, the configuration software manual is a bit sparse. Once figured out, it works flawlessly.

Perfect for office occupancy monitoring
We deployed ten of these in our open-plan office to monitor desk usage without cameras. They are discreet, accurate, and the millimeter wave technology ensures privacy while providing reliable data.
Q: Can this sensor detect human presence if the person is standing completely still?
A: Yes, unlike traditional PIR sensors, this 24GHz millimeter wave radar can detect micro-movements such as chest expansion from breathing, allowing it to identify static human presence effectively.
Q: Is there a Python library available for configuring the sensitivity settings?
A: We provide a Windows-based GUI configuration tool and a C-language SDK. While there is no official Python library yet, many users have successfully created their own Python scripts to communicate via the UART interface using the protocol documented in the datasheet.
Q: What is the maximum distance this module can reliably detect a walking adult?
A: Under standard indoor conditions, the module can reliably detect a walking adult up to 12 meters. For static presence detection, the effective range is typically around 6 to 8 meters depending on environmental clutter.
Q: Can multiple sensors be used in the same room without interfering with each other?
A: Yes, you can operate multiple sensors in the same area. To prevent interference, we recommend staggering their startup times or assigning different frequency hopping patterns via the configuration tool if supported by your specific firmware version.
Q: Does this module come with an antenna, or do I need to solder one separately?
A: The module comes with a built-in PCB patch antenna. No external antenna soldering is required; you can connect directly to your microcontroller via the pin header.
