Reliable indoor hovering
I use this for indoor autonomous navigation projects. The optical flow combined with ToF distance measurement provides stable hovering even in low-light conditions where GPS fails.

Good documentation support

Great value, minor wiring needed
The module performs well within the specified 8-meter range. I had to solder my own headers since they weren't pre-attached, but once connected, the data readout is consistent and fast.
Q: Is this sensor compatible with the Pixhawk 4 Mini?
A: Yes, the CORVON ToF module is fully compatible with Pixhawk 4 Mini via both UART and I2C interfaces. You just need to configure the appropriate parameters in your ground control station.
Q: Does this work outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: While the sensor performs best indoors or in shaded areas, it can function outdoors in moderate sunlight. However, intense direct sunlight may interfere with the infrared signal and reduce accuracy at maximum range.
Q: Can I use this for obstacle avoidance as well as altitude hold?
A: Absolutely. While optimized for downward-facing altitude hold, the module can be mounted in other orientations for forward or side-facing obstacle detection, provided the surface reflects infrared light adequately.
Q: Does the package include connecting wires?
A: The standard package includes the sensor module and a short 10cm connector cable. For longer connections, we recommend purchasing extension wires separately to ensure signal integrity.
Q: What is the update rate of the distance data?
A: The sensor provides distance measurements at an update rate of approximately 50Hz to 100Hz depending on the interface used and the specific configuration settings.
