Reliable detection on black tape
I tested this on various surfaces and black electrical tape. The infrared detection is consistent and fast. The digital output makes coding the logic straightforward. No lag detected during high-speed runs.

Good sensitivity range
Works well under normal indoor lighting. I had to tweak the potentiometer a bit when using it near a bright window, but once calibrated, it tracked the line perfectly. Good product overall.

Great value, easy to wire
Bought this for my son's science fair project. It was very easy to connect to the microcontroller. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the instructions could be slightly clearer, but there are plenty of tutorials online.

Perfect for my Arduino robot project
This sensor module works flawlessly with my custom line-following car. The four channels provide excellent resolution for smooth turns, and the sensitivity adjustment is very responsive. Highly recommended for beginners and experts alike.

Compact and sturdy
The build quality is surprisingly good for the price. The PCB is solid, and the mounting holes align perfectly with standard chassis kits. It has survived several crashes without any issues.
Q: Can this module work directly with a 5V Arduino Uno?
A: Yes, this module operates within the 3.3V to 5V range, so it is fully compatible with the 5V logic of an Arduino Uno without needing a level shifter.
Q: What is the maximum speed the robot can go while still tracking the line accurately?
A: The tracking accuracy depends on your robot's control loop and motor speed. However, the sensor itself has a very fast response time. Most users report successful tracking at speeds up to 1 meter per second with proper PID tuning.
Q: Can it detect obstacles or only lines?
A: While primarily designed for line tracking via contrast detection, the infrared sensors can also detect nearby obstacles if programmed to look for the absence of reflection (like a cliff sensor) or presence of a close object, though dedicated ultrasonic sensors are better for long-range obstacle avoidance.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: There is a small blue potentiometer on the board. Use a small screwdriver to turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise while powering the module until the indicator LED triggers at your desired distance from the line.
