Reliable data for my greenhouse
I deployed six of these across my small greenhouse. They provide very repeatable results compared to the cheap resistive ones I used before. The included wires are a nice touch and saved me some soldering time.

No more electrolysis issues
The main reason I switched to capacitive was to stop the electrolysis effect that destroys soil probes. This sensor solves that completely. It's been running 24/7 for a month with accurate moisture levels reported to my dashboard.

Finally a sensor that doesn't rust!

Easy to connect for beginners
As someone new to Arduino, I appreciated the clear pinout and the included connector wire. It plugged right into my breadboard adapter. Only giving 4 stars because the documentation could be slightly more detailed on calibration code examples.

Great for ESP32 projects

Solid build, needs calibration
The build quality is excellent and the gold plating looks durable. Just remember that you need to calibrate it yourself for dry vs. wet soil values; it doesn't come pre-calibrated out of the box, but that's standard for this component type.

A: This sensor provides an analog output signal (0-3V) which corresponds to the moisture level. You will need an ADC pin on your microcontroller to read it.
Q: Does this work with 3.3V logic boards like the ESP8266?
A: Absolutely. The operating voltage range is 3.3V to 5.5V, making it fully compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers.
Q: Can this sensor be buried directly in the soil long-term?
A: Yes, the capacitive design with gold-plated nickel is specifically engineered for long-term burial without corrosion, unlike resistive sensors.
Q: How do I calibrate the sensor for my specific soil type?
A: You should record the analog value when the sensor is in completely dry air and then when submerged in water (or saturated soil). Map these two values in your code to 0% and 100% moisture.
Q: What is the length of the included wire harness?
A: The package includes a 20cm wire harness with a PH2.0 3-pin connector on one end and bare wires on the other for easy connection.
