Excellent integration with ESP32
I integrated this into a wearable fitness prototype using an ESP32. The low power consumption and small footprint make it ideal for battery-operated devices. The analog output is easy to read and process.

Good signal, needs careful wiring
The AD8232 chip performs well, but you need to ensure your ground connection is solid to avoid noise. Once I improved the shielding on my test rig, the heartbeat detection became very accurate. Recommended for intermediate makers.

Solid performance for the price
For the cost, you really can't beat this module. It's not medical grade certified, so don't use it for diagnosis, but for tracking heart rate trends in a DIY smartwatch, it is perfect.

Fast shipping and works as described
Arrived quickly and was well-packaged. The PCB quality looks professional with clear labeling for the pins. I had it up and running within 20 minutes of unboxing.
Q: How do I reduce noise in the signal output?
A: Ensure the Right Leg (RL) electrode is properly attached to a neutral area like the hip or ankle. Also, keep wires short, avoid moving during measurement, and ensure the battery powering the circuit is fully charged.
Q: Is this device FDA approved for medical diagnosis?
A: No, this product is intended for educational, hobbyist, and fitness demonstration purposes only. It is not certified for medical diagnosis or clinical use.
Q: Does this module come with the electrode snap cables?
A: No, this listing is for the AD8232 breakout board only. Electrode snaps and patch electrodes must be purchased separately.
Q: Can this be used directly with a 5V Arduino Nano?
A: Yes, the module supports an operating voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with 5V boards like the Arduino Nano without needing a logic level converter.
Q: What type of electrodes are compatible with the snaps?
A: The board uses standard 3.5mm touch-proof snap connectors, which are compatible with most generic disposable or reusable ECG/EMG electrodes found in electronics stores.
